What are you doing?
Back from the Alaskan adventure! The ducks there were pretty thin as were the geese. We shot around the Cook Inlet Arm at Seeley Lake. Jim Seeley was our host. Jim and the area are almost as famed as our Nash Buckingham.
Their cabin in the marsh dates back to the ‘40s and is a real piece of history.

| It’s a dirty job . . . Drake the DU Dog got a real workout during his recent Alaska duck hunting trip. The mud-covered canine star of Ducks Unlimited Television was tuning up for the upcoming season in the lower 48. |
on the mud flats parallel to the tide. Until the tide rolled in, the birds stayed out. You can see from Drake's picture the retrieves were a bit rugged.
We had two other Wildrose dogs on the hunt in addition to Drake in the heavy marsh grass and deep mud with not a single bird lost.
The longest retrieve I ever made with Drake was in the flats, estimated between 500 and 600 yards out across the mud flats, a total blind. By the time he reached the bird, he was completely out of sight from the three of us.
I think he's ready for season!
