CRANBERRY POOL Franklin County, Vermont
DU engineers provided design and construction management oversight on this project at Missiquois National Wildlife Refuge in Franklin County. Cranberry Pool is one of the most intensively used habitats by migrating waterfowl on the Refuge. Precise water control capablilities on this 500-acre impoundment is criticial to maintaining the right mix of vegetation and open water in a manner that is attractive to ducks and geese. The old structures were removed and new ones placed in different locations to imporve overall management capabitlities. The existing dike also was reshaped to eliminate erosion caused by water movement in the Missiquois River.
