Clarence Rickard Project, Cherry Ridge
Ducks Unlimited partnered with the Wayne County Conservation District to improve black duck habitat in Wayne County. This site was previously ditched to remove hydrology for making hay and used as a winter pasture for livestock. Three acres of moist soil wetlands were restored and are being used by many waterfowl species including black ducks, mallards, green wing teal and Canada geese. In the area around the project, native grasses will be planted to serve as food for other wildlife.
