Swenson Property – DU purchased the 400-acre Swenson Property in 2003 and continues to restore and manage habitat on the tract. During this past year 390 acres were enrolled in the USDA Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP). Restoration work on the property this past year included leveling several spoil piles near dugout areas, removing trees adjacent to wetlands, capping a well, removing remnant fence and seeding of native grasses on approximately 200 acres. Two small wetlands were also restored and wetland restoration efforts are continuing on the property. The Swenson property is located near Woonsocket in Sanborn County.
