Hinz Tract

DU has acquired the Hinz Tract, a 160-acre property in Kearny County. This acquisition represents DU’s first purchase of waterfowl habitat in the western portion of the Rainwater Basin.

Ducks Unlimited (DU) is restoring and protecting key parcels with vital Nebraska waterfowl habitat used by millions of waterfowl that migrate through the state each year. The improvement of these properties is part of DU’s Revolving Land Acquisition Strategy.

DU will restore critical wetlands and adjacent uplands on the Hinz Tract over the next two to three years. Upon completion of the restoration work, conservation easements will be placed on this property and the tract will be sold to conservation buyers, replenishing DU’s Revolving Land Account and providing the capital to complete additional projects
