The Rempel Tract

The Rempel Tract is an 80-acre parcel located on the west side of the Kirkpatrick Basin South Wildlife Management Area.

DU acquired the Rempel Tract on December 22, 2005. This 80-acre parcel is located on the west side of the Kirkpatrick Basin South Wildlife Management Area (WMA). DU will restore the property’s significant wetland habitat. Nebraska’s Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) identified the acquisition of this parcel as a “high priority” because of the implications it has on management of the commission’s adjacent property. With this acquisition, NGPC will have the ability to improve management on the entire Kirkpatrick Basin South WMA.

The North American Wetlands Conservation Council provided funding for acquisition of the Rempel Tract through a grant to DU. Once restoration is completed, DU will transfer the property to the Game and Parks Commission for long-term ownership and management
