Ducks Unlimited Supports Vote YES Minnesota

Read DU Executive Vice President Don Young's letter (PDF) urging Minnesota DU members to Vote Yes for the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.

Facts about the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment (as compiled by Pheasants Forever a partner in this effort)
  • Each year this amendment could provide $100 million for clean water projects, $100 million for wildlife habitat, $59 million for our cultural heritage, $43 million for parks & trails.
  • This money will not be handled like the lottery money. It is set up much differently and the funding is DEDICATED to specific funds for Clean Water, Outdoor Heritage, Cultural Heritage and Parks & Trails.
  • This money will not simply be funneled into the DNR. The DNR will benefit, just as will all Minnesotans, but the money will be held in separate accounts.
  • Spending of all money for wildlife habitat will be overseen by the Lessard Outdoor Heritage Council, made up of 8 citizens & 4 legislators.
  • Significant dollars will put into matching grant funds so that groups like Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited will be able to do MORE HABITAT WORK!
  • Missouri passed a similar amendment and has since become a national leader in habitat and conservation.
  • If we do not pass this bill, we will lose an incredible opportunity to protect our waters and our natural resources.

Ducks Unlimited supports the Vote YES Minnesota campaign. DU is a partner in this effort to promote passage of The Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment.

In August at the Game Fair near Anoka, Minnesota, DU staff and volunteers advocated for the Vote YES campaign.
