YELLOWBANK WMA
Chenault Bottom

Purpose: To restore 25 acres of moist-soil wetlands on Yellowbank WMA through construction of levees and installation of several water control structures. In addition, DU MARSH funds were used to install a well and pump station to seasonally flood moist-soil wetlands (45 acres). The impoundments will benefit a variety of waterfowl by providing shallow water habitat adjacent to the Ohio River. This project is managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.

Location: The project is located in Breckenridge County approximately 18 miles northeast of Hardinsburg, KY.

Acres Impacted: Phase I – 25 acres, Phase II – 45 acres

Habitat Types: Moist-soil Wetlands
Flooded Agricultural Crops

Timeline: Phase I was completed in February 1995
Phase II was completed in February 2001
