Rum Creek WMA
Wetlands Enhancement Project

Purpose: To enhance 25 acres of waterfowl habitat on Rum Creek WMA through installation of a water control structure and construction of perimeter dike. It was completed in 1987, and was the first MARSH project in the state. This project will enhance waterfowl management capabilities adjacent to the Lake Juliette. Millets and corn are planted in open areas to provide food for wintering waterfowl. Oaks left standing in the impoundment also supply high quality food in the form of acorns. This project will be managed by the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources to provide increased foraging habitat for migrating and wintering dabbling ducks.
